The Cherokee County School District is celebrating Georgia Pre-K Week.

The district serves 198 4-year-olds in classes funded by the Georgia Lottery Pre-K program, which is celebrating its 25th birthday this year; the School District also provides Head Start and Special Education preschool programs to eligible children.

The Georgia Pre-K Program has educated more than 1.4 million children since it began in 1992.

The celebration includes guest reader visits to Pre-K classes, including Canton City Manager Billy Peppers and Woodstock Police Department Public Information Officer Brittany Duncan, as well as special crafts, fitness activities and more.
